Important information for farmers

This service is NOT a veterinary diagnosis

SOS Farm is a guidance-only tool. Only a licensed veterinarian can establish a diagnosis and prescribe treatment. If a notifiable disease is suspected, contact your DDPP (French Departmental Directorate for Population Protection) immediately.

What SOS Farm does

  • Species-specific guidance questionnaire based on veterinary references
  • Urgency score: Green (can wait) / Orange (vet within the day) / Red (immediate emergency)
  • Regulatory alert if notifiable disease is suspected
  • Guidance vers votre veterinaire sanitaire, GDS ou DDPP

Notifiable diseases — Mandatory reporting

If you suspect a Category A disease (foot-and-mouth disease, African swine fever, highly pathogenic avian influenza...), do not move any animals and immediately contact your DDPP (French Departmental Directorate for Population Protection) or call 3115.

/ consultation

France has 145,000 livestock farms but only 1,121 exclusively rural veterinarians, a number in freefall. Travel costs represent 46 to 53% of the consultation fee, discouraging calls. Meanwhile, notifiable diseases go undetected.

SOS Farm helps you assess severity in minutes, identify whether symptoms suggest a notifiable disease, and directs you to the right contact: official veterinarian, departmental GDS (French Animal Health Defence Group), or DDPP (French Departmental Directorate for Population Protection).
